Notes on the text 课文注释

1 在英文表示某一种商店的短语中，往往可以把shop这个词省略，如课文中的the butcher's(shop)和the greengrocer's(shop)。类似的例子还有the hairdresser's (shop), the stationer's (shop), the doctor's(office), my mother's(house)等。

2 在英文中，过去发生的而现在已经结束的动作要用一般过去时来表示。“是”（be）动词的过去式不规则，第一、第三人称单数用was，其他情况用were。

3 How are you all keeping?这是一句问候对方身体如何的话。

4 for the weekend是指整个周末这几天的时间，而at the weekend是强调时间的某一点。

5 Aren't you lucky!这句话是否定疑问句形式的感叹句，为的是加强语气。尽管形式上是否定的，但却表示强有力的肯定。

一、一般过去时：

A:一般过去时的用法:

①一般过去时主要表示在某一个过去时间发生的动作或情况，其中包括习惯性动作，通常与表示过去的时间状语连用。例如：

I got up at 5:00 yesterday morning.我昨天早上五点起床了。

②叙述一个发生在过去的故事或者时间的时候，叙述的内容一般用一般过去时，例如：

She went to the cinema last weekend.她上周末去看电影了。

B：一般过去时的谓语部分：

一般过去时的谓语部分构成是：用动词的过去时来表述谓语。

C：谓语动词过去式变化规则：

一般是在动词原形后加d或者ed，其规则如下：打开↓↓

D：一般过去时里需要特别注意的问题：

在一般过去时的句子里通常有明确的过去时间。如该句子中没有时间状语，那么上下文中一定有表明过去的时间状语或者可以体现“动作或情况发生于过去”这一概念。

二、否定疑问句的用法：

否定疑问句表示双重肯定，表示说话者惊异的情绪、责难的口吻或赞叹；也可表示说话者的某种建议、邀请、请求或看法等。

Can’t you wait a moment? 你不能等一会儿吗？

回答这种问题这种问题时用简略回答。如果答语是肯定的，就用Yes；如果答语是否定的，就用No。但答语的汉语译法有特殊之处。

三、名词所有格的特殊用法：

在英语中，表示店铺、住宅、公共机构、公共建筑以及教堂的名字或某个人家时，名词所有格后面的名词常常省略。例如：
