11月22日，据潇湘晨报消息，近日，作家莫言在中国香港参加活动，活动期间接受记者采访，回应了网上流传他和余华、史铁生去偷瓜的故事，他表示这都是网友们自己杜撰的故事，“我们三个怎么会去偷瓜呢？”，“即便去偷瓜怎么会带上史铁生呢？”，同时还表示，真去偷瓜丢下史铁生也不符合自己当过兵的人的性格。

According to a report by Xiaoxiang Morning Post, acclaimed Chinese writer Mo Yan recently addressed a viral story during an interview in Hong Kong. The anecdote, which circulated widely online, claimed that Mo Yan, along with fellow authors Yu Hua and Shi Tiesheng, had once stolen melons.

"That's entirely fabricated by netizens," Mo Yan said. "How could the three of us go steal melons? And even if we did, why would we bring Shi Tiesheng along?" He further remarked that abandoning Shi Tiesheng during such an act would contradict his own character as a former soldier.

5月5日，莫言在其个人公众号回应网友提问，并在线打假：这些话确实不是我说的。

This is not the first time he has publicly corrected misinformation. On May 5, the Nobel laureate used his official WeChat account to clarify that several quotes widely attributed to him online were, in fact, not his.

A quote criticizing the tradition of visiting relatives during the Chinese New Year. Mo clarified that he actually enjoys the custom and had never expressed such negativity.

The saying: "No matter how high the mountain, there are birds that fly over it; no matter how dense the net, there are fish that slip through. True strength lies not in resistance, but in allowing everything to happen."

While Mo acknowledged a similar sentiment in a past preface he wrote, he confirmed this specific phrasing was not his.

这句话不是我说的。有点像前几天有个北师大的学生对我说：“天才是一种诅咒。”这话风很“哪吒2”。

The phrase: "If you are well, it's a thunderbolt on a sunny day." Mo denied authoring this, humorously noting its style reminded him of a student's recent comment about "genius being a curse", which he likened to the tone of the film "Ne Zha 2".

莫言回应

这些话都很好，但我不能掠美啊。

The quote: "I am not mature enough, not smooth enough, not seasoned enough — it's fine, I am just a late bloomer."

Although Mo found the words commendable, he said clearly, "I cannot take credit for them."

公开资料显示，莫言出生于1955年，原名管谟业，山东高密人，现任中国作协副主席、中国艺术研究院文学院院长、全国政协委员等，代表作有《红高粱》《蛙》《丰乳肥臀》等。他曾于2004年获法国法兰西“文学与艺术骑士勋章”，2012年获诺贝尔文学奖。
