Middle-class women are at a higher risk from the most dangerous form of skin cancer, medical experts have warned. 　　The increased incidence of melanoma among the better-off is being blamed on having more opportunities to take sunshine holidays as well as use of sunbeds. 　　In a study of 3,800 women aged 15 to 39, researchers found that those living in better-off areas were significantly more likely than those in lower class districts to develop skin cancer. 　　Melanoma is the most dangerous type of skin cancer and is the leading cause of death from skin disease.Symptoms include moles on the skin becoming bigger, changing shape or getting darker in colour. 　　Amelia Hausauer, of the University of California, said her team had analysed diagnoses of skin cancer among the group of women from 1988 and 2002.They found that while the number of cases increased in all groups, the rise was significant only in the three highest social classes. 　　医学专家提醒说，年轻的中产阶级女性更易换上最危险的皮肤癌。富人患上黑瘤的几率大得归咎于他们更容易享受阳光浴假期和浴床。一项研究分析了3800名15—39岁的女性，研究人员发现与贫民区的居民相比，富人区的居民患皮肤癌的几率远远要大得多。黑瘤是皮肤癌中最致命的一种癌症。症状包括患者身上长痣，痣越变越大，形状发生变化，颜色也会变深。加利福尼亚大学的艾美利亚·豪瑟尔说，她的团队分析了1988至2002年间患有皮肤癌女性的诊断结果。他们发现尽管各群体中病例数量上升了，但仅有3个最高的社会阶层患病的几率更大。 　　Additionally, higher rates of UV radiation exposure were associated with increased rates of melanoma among only the highest two levels of socio-economic status. 　　Dr Hausauer said the main cause of the increased exposure was sunbed use and repeated sunburn on holiday, as well as genetic factors. 　　Those living in areas with the highest social class experienced up to 80 per cent greater melanoma incidence relative to those from the lowest class districts with the lowest UV-radiation exposure. 　　She said: ‘Understanding the ways that socio-economic status and UV-radiation exposure work together to influence melanoma incidence is important for planning effective prevention and education efforts.’
