Policymakers at the US Federal Reserve have released their snapshot of the economy. They say they've seen little to no change in economic activity, but cited risks from tariffs and general uncertainty.

They found consumer spending was flat or declining. That's because wages are failing to keep up with inflation. And they say tariffs are starting to have an impact on prices.

The report says overall employment didn't undergo any major changes, but weaker demand and uncertainty left businesses in more than half the districts reluctant to hire workers.

Fed Chair Jerome Powell last month cited concern over those risks to the labor market. He hinted that policymakers may respond by cutting interest rates. The Fed is ready to hold its next policy meeting in two weeks.
