The best days of my life when I was out there in Africa and living with wild animals, and learning about these amazing beings so like us. Realizing, too, that the main difference was the explosive development of our intellect. Because although animals, all of them are way, way more intelligent than scientists were prepared to believe at one time.
Nevertheless, being intellectual has not made us intelligent. Because intelligent creatures don't destroy their only home. And that's what we are doing.
然而,智力并没有让我们变得聪明。因为有智慧的生物不会破坏自己唯一的家园。而这正是我们正在做的。
How do we get people to act? We need them, first of all, to understand that we're part of the natural world. We're not separate from it. Not only are we part of nature, but we depend on it, don't we?
So depending on it for everything and seeing that we're destroying it before our eyes, it does make it seem urgent that we need to do something about it. I've been fortunate going around the world and seeing places that we destroyed and give nature a chance and she'll come back. Animals on the brink of extinction can be given another chance.
And that's really important now. Because if people see these good news stories, they're more likely to think, “Gosh, they did that. We can do it too.” Everybody can get involved. I think that's that's the answer.
