A story of devotion has recently attracted widespread attention on Chinese social media: a vocational college graduate left his hometown in Chongqing to accompany his girlfriend to Yunnan province, where she is pursuing a master's degree, and started a noodle shop to support their life together.

The young man, surnamed Zhang, born in 1999, wrote on his social media profile that he moved to Yunnan to be with his girlfriend and opened a Chongqing noodle shop, hoping to marry her after graduation. Their educational gap has sparked debate online, with some praising his dedication while others responding with sarcasm.

His girlfriend, surnamed Yang, told reporters that she values responsibility and diligence over academic credentials, adding that she hopes to marry early and build a happy family.
On Tuesday, Zhang posted that his only wish is to live a simple, happy life with his girlfriend. "Wherever she is, that's where I'll be," he wrote.

Yang admitted she once cared about their different educational backgrounds but has since changed her mind after witnessing his determination to start from scratch in Kunming, Yunnan province.

Zhang said the couple borrowed money to open the shop but managed to repay the debt within a year through hard work.
