6月29日，是钟一男在武汉街头送外卖的第10天。这位刚高考完的07年大男孩，没有选择悠闲度过假期，而是穿上骑手服，一头扎进了武昌街道口高峰期的车流里。

此前，钟一男已经入围北京科技大学高水平运动员名单。此次高考，他的文化成绩也达到了该校要求，有望被北京科技大学录取。

While many students unwind after the national college entrance exam (gaokao), 17-year-old Zhong Yinan chose a different path: delivering food in the sweltering summer heat of Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province.

Sunday marked the tenth day on the job for Zhong, an energetic young man born in 2007, who recently completed the gaokao. Despite having already been admitted as a high-level athlete to the University of Science and Technology Beijing — achieving the academic score required for admission — Zhong decided not to rest on his laurels.

钟一男选择街道口站点，看中的是这里高校云集、订单密集。“这边单会比较多一些。”他算得很清楚：每天努力跑上30多单，收入大约能有150元。这份在别人看来枯燥甚至辛苦的工作，钟一男却干得特别有劲儿。

Instead, he donned a delivery uniform and jumped into the chaotic traffic around Wuchang's busy Jiedaokou area — a hub of universities with a high-density of orders. "There are more orders here," he explained simply.



“每跑一单，看着单量增多，自己赚的钱特别有分量。”他坦言“有趣的事情其实不多，也挺枯燥的”，但紧接着语气就亮了起来：“但我特别乐意跑！”他要靠自己的汗水，买下一把心仪的贝斯。“因为我有一个买贝斯的目标，所以很有动力。”他说，家里条件不是很好，这把贝斯，他希望能靠自己挣来。

What's fueling this determination? A dream to buy a bass guitar. "My family isn't well off," he said. "I want to buy it with the money I earn myself."



工作节奏紧张。每天十点开工，到下午三点多才能歇口气吃上午饭。大学城附近的小吃街就成了他的首选。“便宜量大，划算。”他这样评价。晚上八九点收工回家时，常常已是饥肠辘辘，幸好家里总有妈妈留好的热饭。

6月以来，武汉的雨连绵不断。刚开始跑单，一场毫无防备的大雨给初来乍到的他一个教训。手机被彻底淋湿，屏幕失灵，修一次花掉了他辛苦跑一天的收入。“当时经验不足嘛！”提起这事，他语气里没有抱怨，只是有点懊恼。但第二天，他就给手机套上了防水袋，继续出发。困难发生了，解决掉，然后继续向前，这就是他的应对方式。



问他累不累？作为足球一级运动员，他笑着摆摆手：“比平时训练量小多了。”但每晚回家，钟一男总是枕上枕头就能睡着。

When asked if he finds the job exhausting, Zhong — a first-class football player — waved it off with a laugh: "It's nothing compared to my regular training." At night, he's so worn out he falls asleep the moment his head hits the pillow.

这份需要不停奔波的工作，意外地让这个被妈妈评价为“有点浮躁”“静不下来”的少年找到了专注的力量。“至少让我能专注做一件事。我觉得一个人能专注做事很难，能坚持下来也很厉害。”



那笔正在累积的收入，他早已有了规划：拿下那把心仪的贝斯，还想给父母买份礼物，表达一份心意。送满两个月，到8月中旬，他计划和同学去重庆玩一趟——这趟旅程的花费，他也打算自己承担。对于即将开始的大学生活，他同样充满期待：加入音乐社团，学好体育教育，还想尝试修个双学位。他已经在计划着，未来的寒暑假，还要继续做些兼职，靠自己的努力去实现更多愿望。

Zhong already has other plans for the money he's earning. In addition to the bass guitar, he wants to buy a gift for his parents as a token of gratitude. When his two-month stint ends in mid-August, he's also planning a self-funded trip to Chongqing with friends.

As for the next chapter in his academic life, Zhong is brimming with ambition for college, hoping to join a music club, major in physical education, and perhaps even pursue a second degree.
