今天要跟大家分享的表达是由两个很常见的单词组成的。我们都知道“person”是人，而“people”是它的复数。如果它们组合在一起成为“people person”，又是什么意思呢？

people person 善于交际的人;与他人相处融洽的人

people person: someone who is friendly and enjoys meeting and talking to people

Donna was a people person. She was warm, outgoing, and an excellent listener.

唐娜与他人相处融洽。她热情、开朗，是一个很好的倾听者。

Dave tries hard, but he's just not a people person.

戴夫已经很努力了，但无奈他不是一个善于交际的人。



说到这里，想到了另一个相似的表达“social butterfly”。

social butterfly 交际花；社交达人

She used to be quite the social butterfly, but no one has heard from Sarah in weeks.

她以前是个社交达人，但几个星期以来，没有人收到萨拉的任何消息。

所以，如果我们想说一个人善于交际，除了常说的“social butterfly”，现在还多了一种表达哦。



如果我们说“someone's people”，是什么意思呢？一起来看看和“people”有关的表达吧。

someone's people 家人，亲人，家属

Her people come from Scotland originally.

她家人原籍苏格兰。

people pleaser 希望取悦他人的人

I learned not to pay attention to others' opinions of me because I know that I'm a people pleaser.

people skills 社交技能，人际交往能力

His people skills helped him as a salesman.

作为销售人员，他的人际交往能力对工作十分有帮助。



people something/somewhere by/with someone 充满，充斥着（某种类型的人）

Her novels are peopled with the rich and beautiful.

她小说里净是些有钱的俊男靓女。

little people （想象出来的）小精灵，小妖精

Her grandmother used to tell stories of the little people.

她的祖母过去常常讲小精灵的故事。

morning person 感觉在早晨精力充沛的人

He's not really a morning person - he doesn't even talk before about eleven o'clock!

他真的不是一个在早晨精力充沛的人——在11点钟前他都不会和人说话。



of all people 在所有的人当中偏偏（或唯有）

I thought that you, of all people, would believe me!

我原以为在所有人当中起码你会相信我！

the beautiful people 时尚而富有的人；上层社会时髦人物

This café is a favourite haunt of the beautiful people.

这个咖啡馆是上层社会时髦人物最喜欢光顾的地方之一。

all things to all people 使人人满意；八面玲珑

However, no doubt the members of that company want to be all things to all people.

然而毫无疑问，那个公司的人想要八面玲珑。

The editorial board has an expert with a world-wide reputation in the person of Professor Jameson.

working man/woman/person 有工作的人

Generally, working people don't have time to shop for food every day.

通常来说，上班族没有时间每天去买食物。



as much as the next person 跟任何人一样

I enjoy winning awards as much as the next guy, but other things are more important to me.

for a man/woman/person of his/her years 就他/她的年龄而言

He dances well for a man of his years.
