最近，中国农业大学的毕业典礼在网上掀起了一阵热潮。

63岁的校长孙其信，从早上9点半开始，就开启了他的“拨穗营业”，一直加班到晚上11点，为毕业生逐一拨穗。

第二天早上8点半，他又准时出现在西校区的毕业典礼上，继续为余下的毕业生拨穗。

这可不是普通的拨穗，而是全程配合学生各种“整活”，在全网圈粉无数！

有人和校长喝香槟庆祝。



有人把校长抱起来，和校长一起戴墨镜耍酷。



也有各种搞怪合影，孙校长全都配合得毫无压力。



现在的毕业典礼不再是传统意义上一板一眼地走流程、读致辞，而是洋溢着青春与潮流气息。



那么，毕业为什么要拨穗呢？学位服、学位帽又藏着哪些冷知识呢？

拨穗

拨穗动作的雏形可追溯至中世纪欧洲的学术服饰文化。流苏的设计灵感源于稻穗或麦穗，拨动流苏的动作象征“收割成熟”，寓意学生经过多年耕耘，终获学业成果。

在学位授予仪式中，流苏位置的调整（通常从右至左）标志着学生完成学业，从“求知者”转变为“知识传播者”。

The turning of the tassel tradition traces back to medieval Europe, where the tassel symbolized "harvesting knowledge"—moving it from right to left marks the transition from learner to scholar.



拨穗这个仪式用英语表达就是：turning of the tassel。

学位帽上的小穗叫做tassel /ˈtæsl/（流苏），通常是校长或系主任，为每个毕业生拨穗。

例句：

This summer more than 5,400 students turned their tassels as they graduated from the university.

这个夏天，5400多名学生参加了拨穗仪式，从这所大学毕业。

学位服

在中国，学士服多为黑色，硕士服为蓝色，博士服为红色。

学位帽最常用的叫法是cap，又叫square academic cap、graduate cap。

不过，“学位帽”还有个有趣的说法：“托泥板”，mortarboard ['mɔ:təbɔ:d]。

Mortarboard=mortar（砂浆）+board（板子）。

这个词本意是泥瓦匠砌墙时用来hold mortar（托砂浆）的“托泥板”，后引申出“学位帽”的意思。



穿上学位服除了用put on，还可用don/dɔn/这个书面词：don your cap and gown。

抛学位帽

中世纪的欧洲大学里，毕业生会把帽子钉在墙上以示毕业，后来演变成抛帽。



抛帽源于1912年美国海军学院的毕业传统，学员将帽子抛向空中象征“不再需要书本和制服”，后演变为全球通用的庆祝仪式。
