An Israeli airstrike hit Iran's state TV headquarters during a live broadcast on Monday — plunging the set into darkness, sending debris flying and setting much of the building on fire. The attack was part of a series of deadly strikes traded by Israel and Iran on the fourth day of the conflict between the two countries, raising concerns that the region could be headed toward a wider Middle East conflict.

Iran's state broadcaster IRIB said one of its buildings was hit on Monday in a "brutal aggression" by Israel, but added that live broadcasts continued without major disruption.

The Israeli military said the TV station building was "used by the Iranian Armed Forces under the guise of civilian activity, covering up the military use of the center's infrastructure and assets."

A staffer at the Iranian state broadcaster IRIB has died after an Israeli attack on the building during a live broadcast, Iranian media has reported. Several other journalists were also injured, it said.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) promised to launch several missile barrages towards Israel throughout the night, according to state news outlets.

The IRGC's General Naeini said, according to the Islamic Republic News Agency: "The ninth wave of the combined drone and missile attack began and will continue continuously until the morning."

当地时间16日晚，埃及、约旦、阿联酋、巴基斯坦、巴林、土耳其、阿尔及利亚、沙特阿拉伯、苏丹、伊拉克、阿曼、卡塔尔和科威特等21个阿拉伯和伊斯兰国家的外交部长发表联合声明，谴责以色列袭击伊朗导致中东紧张局势加剧。

声明强调“在中东局势日益紧张的背景下，以色列必须停止对伊朗的敌对行动，努力缓解紧张局势、实现停火和全面和平”。
