Job interviews for Japanese university seniors and graduate students have officially started. But a survey shows that many of them have already received initial offers.
Interviews officially start from June 1st in Japan under guidelines laid down by the government. But companies have been moving up their hiring activities every year due to labor shortages.
A survey shows that as of May 15th, nearly 80 percent of students had already received job offers. The government has been asking businesses to follow its guidelines so searching for work will not affect the students' education.
Major trading firm Itochu started conducting interviews on Sunday in line with the guidelines.
大型贸易公司伊藤忠商事株式会社上周日开始按照指导方针进行面试。
"Job-hunting activities are starting increasingly early. Many students are making decisions without taking enough time to fully think about their future."
“求职活动开始得越来越早。 许多学生在没有花足够的时间充分考虑自己的未来的情况下匆忙做出决定。”
Usuda added that Itochu is offering work-related events and internships to encourage students to take enough time to study and prepare for their future careers.
