A gallery? A ward? Why can't we merge the two?

This is no ordinary hospital ward. Located in the heart of Guangzhou, the pediatric department at the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University treats children facing some of the most serious illnesses. But here, clinical care meets creativity.

Walls once blank and sterile, are now lined with illustrations, paintings, and vibrant colors - each work of art carefully chosen or created to comfort, inspire, and bring joy to young patients and their families.

Zhang Tingting, head nurse of the pediatric ward. She has spent nearly her whole career in this hospital, serving as a vital link between the hospital and its young patients.

Taking advantage of the ward's relocation, Ms Zhang brought this suggestion to her department.

Colorful sheets were handed out to the children. Once painted by their own hands, these will be assembled into a display for Children's Day.
