新概念第二册第一课
Last week I went to the theatre. I had a very good seat. The play was very interesting. I did not enjoy it. A young man and a young woman were sitting behind me. They were talking loudly. I got very angry. I could not hear the actors. I turned round. I looked at the man and the woman angrily. They did not pay any attention. In the end, I could not bear it. I turned round again. 'I can't hear a word!' I said angrily.
'It's none of your business,' the young man said rudely. 'This is a private conversation!'
朗读注意：
一、 the 在 actors 和 end 之前的发音。 二、looked 和 at 的连读，bear 和 it 的连读，round 和 again 的连读，none 和 of 的连读。
行文点评：
本文采用第一人称叙述亲身经历的一件事。I 出现了11处，not (n't none) 出现了6处，angry (angrily) 出现了3处。以一般过去时为基调，过去进行时凸显时间上的连续不断以衬托主人公的怒之有理，对话中为现在时。

I have just received a letter from my brother, Tim. He is in Australia. He has been there for six months. Tim is an engineer. He is working for a big firm and he has already visited a great number of different places in Australia. He has just bought an Australian car and has gone to Alice springs, a small town in the centre of Australia. He will soon visit Darwin. From there, he will fly to Perth. My brother has never been abroad before, so he is finding this trip very exciting.
行文点评：
本文以现在时为基调。以现在完成时、现在进行时、一般将来时展现过去、现在、未来三者之时间差异，更显叙事当时的承前启后。
练习方式：
逐句汉译英抢答；轮流复述文字内容（大意及细节）。

Lesson 5 No wrong number 无号码错误之虞 
课文默写.
Mr James scott has a garage in silbury.Recently,he has bought another garage in Pinhurst.From silbury to Pinhurst just five miles.But Mr James scott cannot recieve a telephone for the new garage,So he bought twelve pigeons .Yesterday,he sent the first pigeon from silbury to Pinhurst.The first one carried the message from one place to another.The third pigeon just spent three minutes for the distance.Up to now,Mr Scott sent lots of messages for recieved spare parts and the other important messages.In this way,Mr Scott begun his own private "telephone" service. 
The question:what does the no wrong number's meaning?
answer:No wrong number means Mr.James Scott have no telephone in the new garage in Pinhurst,so he just bought twelve pigeons instead of the telephone.
If the answer were wrong,you would tell me .thank you.

Pinhurst is only five miles from Silbury, but Mr. Scott cannot get a telephone for his new garage, so he has just bought twelve pigeons.

[原文放送]
I have just moved to a house in Bridge Street. Yesterday a beggar knocked at my door. He asked me for a meal and a glass of beer. In return for this, the beggar stood on his head and sang songs. I gave him a meal. He ate the food and drank the beer. Then he put a piece of cheese in his pocket and went away. Later a neighbour told me about him. Everybody knows him. His name is Percy Buttons. He calls at every house in the street once a month and always asks for a meal and a glass of beer.
