[00:00.04]A Tokyo clothing maker has worked with an animal doctor

[00:51.28]from seeing wearable air conditioners, like Sony's Reon Pocket.

[00:57.73]The Sony device can remove heat to cool the human body.

[01:03.52]Sweet Mommy's device is called Cool Dog but it is good for cats, too.

[01:10.84]Uzawa said it was created under the supervision

[01:14.78]of an animal doctor at Oasis Animal Hospital.

[01:20.07]The device is a battery-powered fan.

[01:23.84]It is attached to thin material and blows air around the animal's body.

[01:30.58]It weighs about 80 grams.

[01:33.80]"There was almost no rainy season this year, so the hot days came early,

[01:40.32]and in that sense, I think we developed a product that is right for the market," Uzawa said.

[01:48.00]After the rainy season in Tokyo ended in late June,

[01:52.44]the Japanese capital suffered the longest heatwave on record.

[01:57.26]Temperatures up to 35 degrees Celsius were recorded for nine days.

[02:04.44]"I usually use dry ice packs (to keep the dog cool).

[02:08.69]But it's easier to walk my dog if we have this fan," said Mami Kumamoto.

[02:16.18]She is the owner of two dogs,

[02:18.72]a small poodle named Pudding and a terrier named Maco.

[02:24.36]The device came out in early July.

[02:27.45]Uzawa said Sweet Mommy has received around 100 orders for the product.

[02:33.27]It comes in five different sizes for a price of about $74.
