My name is Li Kang. I live in Shijiazhuang, a city not far from Beijing. It is the capital city of Hebei Province.

我叫李康，住在离北京不远的石家庄市。它是河北省的首府。

Today is my first day at Senior High school and I’m writing down my thoughts about it.

今天是我升入高中的第一天，现在我就写写我这一天的感想。

My new school is very good and I can see why. The teachers are very enthusiastic and friendly and the classrooms are amazing.

我的新学校很好，理由如下：老师们非常热情、友好，而且教室很棒。

Every room has a computer with a special screen, almost as big as a cinema screen.

每个教室都配备有一台电脑，电脑屏幕是和电影屏幕大小差不多的特殊屏幕。

The teachers write on the computer, and their words appear on the screen behind them.

老师在电脑上写字，这些字就出现在老师身后的屏幕上。

The screens also show photographs, text and information from websites. They’re brilliant!

屏幕也能展示照片、文本以及网站下载的信息。真是太棒了！

The English class is really interesting. The teacher is a very enthusiastic woman called Ms Shen.

英语课真的很有趣。老师是一位姓沈的非常热心的女士。

We’re using a new textbook and Ms Shen’s method of teaching is nothing like that of the teachers at my Junior High school.

由于我们使用的是新课本，沈老师的教学方法和初中老师的完全不一样。

She thinks that reading comprehension is important, but we speak a lot in class, too.

她认为阅读理解很重要，而我们在课堂上说得也很多。

And we have fun. I don’t think I will be bored in Ms Shen’s class!

我们过得很快乐。我认为上沈老师的课我是不会感到厌烦的。

Some students were embarrassed at first but everyone was very friendly and it was really nice.

有些学生起初有些为难，不过每个人都很友好，真是太好了。

Ms Shen wants to help us improve our spelling and handwriting. We do this in a fun way, with spelling games and other activities.

沈老师想帮助我们提高拼写和书写水平。我们用有趣的拼写游戏和其他活动做完了这些。

I like her attitude very much, and the behaviour of the other students shows that they like her, too.

我非常喜欢她的教态，其他学生的行为表明他们也很喜欢沈老师。

They say that girls are usually more hard⁃working than boys, but in this class, everyone is hard⁃working.

人们说女生通常比男生用功，但是，在我们班里，人人都很用功。

For our homework tonight, we have to write a description of the street where we live. I’m looking forward to doing it!

今晚的家庭作业是描写我们居住的街道。我正盼望着做家庭作业呢！

They say that first impressions are very important. My first impression of Mrs Li was that she was nervous and shy.

人们常说第一印象很重要。我对李老师最初的印象是她既紧张又害羞。

I think perhaps she was, as it was her first lesson with us. But now, after two weeks, the class really likes working with her.

我想她这样也许是因为她给我们上第一节课的缘故吧。两周过去了，全班学生都很喜欢上她的课。

She’s kind and patient, and she explains English grammar so clearly that even I can understand it!

她和蔼而且又有耐心，她解释的英语语法非常清楚，连我都能够理解！

I ve always hated making mistakes or pronouncing a word incorrectly when I speak English, but Mrs Li just smiles, so that you don’t feel completely stupid!

我总是不愿意犯错误或在说英语时念错词，但是，李老师只是笑笑，因此，你就不会感到自己是个大笨蛋！

I think maybe she goes a bit too slowly for the faster students, but for me it’s wonderful!I feel I’m going to make progress with her.

我想对于那些学习较好的学生来说，她的进度也许有些慢，但对我来说正好！我觉得我跟着她学习肯定会取得进步。

I’d guess that Mrs Chen is almost sixty. She’s very strict—we don’t dare to say a word unless she asks us to. She’s also very serious and doesn’t smile much.

我猜想陈老师几乎快 60 岁了。她很严格——如果她不要求，我们连一句话也不敢说。她也很严肃，不苟言笑。

When she asks you to do something, you do it immediately！

她要你做什么事，你得赶快做！

There are a few students in our class who keep coming to class late but they’re always on time for Mrs Chen’s lessons！

班上总有一些上课迟到的学生，但是上陈老师的课他们总能按时到。

Some of our class don’t like her, but most of us really appreciate her because her teaching is so well organised and clear.

我们班有的同学不喜欢她，但大多数同学都很欣赏她的课，因为她的讲解非常有条理，很清楚。

During scientific experiments, she explains exactly what is happening and as a result my work is improving.

做科学实验时，她准确无误地解释发生的一切，就这样，我的学习正在进步。

Physics will never be my favourite lesson, but I think that I’ll do well in the exam with Mrs Chen teaching me.

物理绝对不是我最喜欢的科目，但我觉得有陈老师教我，今后考试我一定会考得不错的。

Mr Wu’s only been teaching us for two weeks and he’s already very popular. I think this is because he really enjoys teaching Chinese literature.

吴老师只教了我们两个礼拜就已经很受大家欢迎了。我觉得这是因为他很喜欢教中国文学。

He loves it, in fact! He’s got so much energy, this is one class you do not fall asleep in!

事实上，他很热爱中国文学！他精力充沛，这是一节你不会想睡觉的课！

Even things like compositions and summaries are fun with Mr Wu. I respect him a lot.

上吴老师的课，就连作文和归纳大意这样的事情也变得很有趣。我很尊敬他。

• Module3丨RecentlyI had my first ride on a long⁃distance train. And what a ride! Afriend and I travelled on the famous Ghan train.

最近我第一次乘坐了长途火车。一次多么奇妙的乘车经历！我和一位朋友乘坐著名的Ghan去旅行。

Thetrain was wonderful and the food was great. We ate great meals cooked byexperts!

火车很舒服，食品又美味。我们吃的美味饭菜是烹饪大师们做的。

Therewere fields and the soil was dark red.

有成片的田野,那里的泥土是深红色的。

Thesun shone, there was no wind and there were no clouds in the sky.

艳阳高照,空中没一丝风，一朵云彩。

Suddenly,it looked like a place from another time. We saw abandoned farms which werebuilt more than a hundred years ago.

突然之间又好像来到了另一个时代的某地。我们看到被遗弃了100多年前建造的农庄。

Onenight, at about midnight, I watched the night sky for about an hour. The starsshone like diamonds.

有一天晚上, 大约是在半夜,差不多有整整一个小时我都在注视夜晚的天空。星星闪着如钻石般的光芒。
