词根精讲

词根sci-来源于拉丁文scire一词，表示“知道；了解（to know; to understand）”之意。所谓的science（科学）就是洞察事物的内在规律，熟谙事物的固有逻辑，达到对大千世界的一种认识和了解，如此便可谓之真知灼见，科学是也。派生词scientist（科学家）则是1840年英国学者WilliamWhelwell的创造，他在自己的著作《感应科学基本原理》（The Philosophy of the Inductive Science）中说：“我们非常需要一个名称来泛指发展科学的人，我倾向于把他叫做scientist”。哲学家培根曾经说过，数学使人周密，科学使人深刻，伦理学使人庄重，逻辑修辞使人善辩，凡有所学，皆成性格。科学精神，不可一知半解，知道就是知道。
