美剧中这句常见台词到底是什么意思？





Bear in mind, bear 是“熊”，mind是“大脑”，难道是说大脑里有头熊？

首先，我们必须先摸清bear的底细。

bear是个典型的同形异义词，也就是说，拼写发音相同，但却有不同的含义，词源也毫不相干。

就像《指环王》男星伊莱贾·伍德和《哈利·波特》天选之子丹尼尔·雷德克里夫，两人毫无血缘关系，但比同一个妈生的还像。

bear 作动词，源头可就多了，但一般都表示“搬运负担，带来”，“生育”。这个词义的出现也蛮有意思，女性怀孕就像将一个生命“搬运”而来。

随着文明的发展，bear 的基本含义更统一和抽象，有了“通过压力向前移动”的概念。
