近日，袁隆平院士带了5年的邝翡婷博士发视频介绍了团队的研究成果。

视频里，一片在新疆沙漠盐碱地上种植的小黑麦，长得郁郁葱葱，植株高度超过一人。



邝翡婷介绍了小黑麦的特性，“小黑麦是粮饲兼用的农作物，它耐贫瘠、耐寒、耐旱、耐盐碱、抗风沙。”

In a recently released video, Kuang Feiting, a PhD student mentored for five years by the late agricultural pioneer Yuan Longping, presented her team's latest breakthrough: a thriving field of triticale growing on saline-alkali desert land in Xinjiang.

The footage shows lush green plants towering over a person, a striking contrast to the barren landscape. "Triticale is a dual-purpose crop for both grain and forage," Kuang explained. "It's highly tolerant of poor soil, cold, drought, salinity, and sandstorms."

更令人振奋的是：“在新开荒的沙漠盐碱地里，种普通小麦可能出苗都困难，要改造两三年后才有效益。但是小黑麦第一年亩产饲草量就可以达到3吨甚至4吨，当年就可以实现丰收。”

What makes the achievement even more remarkable is the speed of success. "On newly reclaimed desert saline-alkali land, ordinary wheat struggles to even sprout, and it usually takes two to three years of improvement before it becomes profitable," Kuang said. "But triticale can yield three to four tons of forage per acre in its very first year — a harvest achieved right from the start."



邝翡婷博士还介绍，“自己是袁隆平院士的徒孙”，由袁老师亲自指导、亲自盯实验进度，带了5年，期间没少让袁老师挠头。



邝翡婷笑称，曾经自己被袁老师满院子追着问实验结果，“以至于我后来见到袁老师，都要绕道走”。

Kuang describes herself as an "academic grand-student" of Yuan, having been personally guided by the legendary scientist. "For five years, Professor Yuan directly oversaw my experiments and followed up on every step — and I certainly gave him plenty of headaches," she recalled with a smile.

"He used to chase me all around the courtyard, demanding my latest results," she said. "I got so nervous that I would take a detour whenever I saw him coming."






中国青年报注意到，2019年，袁隆平院士谈及带博士生的感受时，一度“急得挠头”，相关画面在社交媒体上广为流传。




如今，那个让人挠头的博士接过接力棒，让沙漠盐碱地也实现了“禾下乘凉梦”。

In 2019, a widely circulated clip showed Yuan jokingly "scratching his head in frustration" over the challenges of mentoring doctoral students. That same gesture, once a symbol of his relentless pursuit of excellence, now marks a new chapter.

Today, the once-headache-inducing student has taken up the baton — turning the desert's salty crust into a field where, as Yuan once dreamed, "people can enjoy the cool shade under abundant harvests."
