Three small fish lived in the South Sea. They were brothers. As their parents passed away, the brothers stuck together all the time-in daytime or at night, eating or playing. They watched each other closely every minute.<br/>When a small fish discovered the approaching of a large fish, he would immediately tell the two others, then the three brothers would escape at the same time. With such a close cooperation, they survived many times of being attacked by large fishes or other fierce sea animals.<br/>Finally, they grew up. They dared to swim deeper and further.<br/>One early morning, the three fish were dashed over to a shallow water by a huge wave. A small boat was dashed over there too. So the fish were besieged in the shallow water between the boat and the shore at a small corner, the largest fish realized that when the tide fell, the water in the corner would dry. Therefore, he told his two brothers that they must figure out a way to leave the dangerous spot as fast as possible.<br/>The second largest fish agreed with his elder brother, but the youngest one did not. He said that there was plenty of water for their daily activities. Who knew whether the tide would fall or not? Therefore, they did not have to worry about such a hard-to-happen event. Besides, with the boat to block the exit, it would be almost impossible for them to jump over it and return to the sea. Therefore, the smallest fish would not worry at all and still swam around joyfully.<br/>Finally, the largest fish jumped over the lowest gunwale and returned to the sea. The second largest fish also squeezed himself barely through a crack of the boat and joined his elder brother in the other side of water. Both elder brothers urged their little brother to try the same in order to leave the danger, but the youngest one ignored the advice and still swam around as happily as he could without thinking of how to struggle.<br/>A couple of hours later, when the sun rose up, the tide fell, and the water in the small triangle shallow corner soon dried up. The fish besieged in the area who did not struggle to escape while he could finally died of lack of water.<br/> |
