You might remember her as the Elven queen in the magical world of The Lord of the Rings, or perhaps Cinderella’s evil stepmother in the 2015 movie version of the story. Now, Australian actress Cate Blanchett has taken on the role of Hela, Goddess of Death, in Thor: Ragnarok, which came out on Nov 3.

As the third film in the Thor series, it tells the story of Thor as he teams up with his two frenemies, Loki and Hulk, to battle Hela and keep her from destroying Asgard, the magical kingdom.

作为“雷神”系列的第三部电影，该片讲述了雷神托尔与亦敌亦友的邪神洛基、绿巨人浩克并肩作战，阻止海拉摧毁魔法王国阿斯加德的故事。



According to Yahoo, Hela is the first-ever female villain in a Marvel movie.

据雅虎报道，海拉是漫威电影中首个女性反派角色。

“Cate’s very similar to the character of Hela,” the film’s director Taika Waititi told the Washington Post. “Hela has won all these battles and she’s got this calm confidence about her. Cate has won all these awards and has this cool and collected attitude.”

“凯特和海拉这一角色很像，”该片导演塔伊加•维迪提在接受《华盛顿邮报》采访时表示。“海拉赢得了所有的战斗，对于自己有着从容的自信。而凯特也拿下了所有的奖项，对此抱着冷静淡定的态度。”

And not only does she like to try out many different roles in films, but Blanchett also has a lot of real-life roles. For example, she’s a feminist activist who’s spoken out about her concern on the pressure women in Hollywood face. She’s also an ambassador for the UN to raise people’s awareness about refugees.

但布兰切特不光在电影中乐于尝试各种各样不同的角色，也在现实生活中有着多重身份。比如，她是女权主义活动家，向公众表达着自己对好莱坞女星所面临的压力的关切。她还是联合国大使，为增加人们对难民的关注而奔走。

“I do think your role as an actor, as an artist, is not to be polite – it’s to provoke,” she told The New York Times
