Speak to myself, I think make a foreign friend is a best to learn English. But I don't agree with the person who take their foreign friends as language tool. Talk something about your experience of learning English.

being modest is the best way forever.never think you are better than anyone.so when i talk to foreigners,i always pay attention to each of their words and never interrupt.even if they make mistakes i would politely point them out after theyfinally finished.certainly the contents are more important.they always think of matters in quite a different way.so listen. don't think you have got a truth to prevail upon them coz they are smarter than you when thinking in english.
