→ capital首要的，最重要的，基本的；首都；大写字母

London, Paris and Rome are capitals. 伦敦、巴黎、罗马都是国都。
The letter L, P, R are in capitals. 字母L，P，R 是大写字母。

→ capable有能力的
be capable of 有能力做…
You are capable of better work than this. 你能比这做得更好。
辨 ①able表示“能做…”，一般是指人，
表示他在实际上具有做某件事的能力，有时还指高超的能力或技能；
②capable 虽然也表示“有…能力”，但是它既可以用来指人也可以指事，或者表示潜在的、能够达到要求的能力。

辨 ①careful 使用的范围非常广泛、比较频繁；
②cautious 一般指提前进行预防、防备可能出现的差错和危险，语义较重。
反 careless马虎大意
→ carelessness 马虎大意
Many accidents are caused by the carelessness of workers.
很多的事故都是由工作人员的马虎而造成的。
→ cause引发，导致
