i 'm not sure if "on the north of ..." is a grammatically wrong sentence. but i know that at least most americans will consisder it as a weird sentence. they would rather say " north of ...." or " to the north of" . i can still remember what i was taught at school that " on" indicates a country is bordered by another. eg. china is bordered by mongolia on the north. but my american friends never speak in that way, instead, they will say: china is bordered by mongolia TO the north. now, i m also puzzled. |
