缘份用英语怎么说？

「 缘 分 」 译 做 fate 或 fatalism 可 不 可 以 ？

英 文 没 有 「 缘 分 」 这 观 念 ， 要 找 一 个 同 义 词 是 不 可 能 的 。 Fate 是 「 命 运 」 ， 含 义 比 「 缘 分 」 广 ； fatalism 是 「 宿 命 论 」 ， 而 且 常 带 「 恶 运 难 逃 」 含 义 ， 和 「 缘 分 」 意 思 相 差 更 远 ， 例 如 ： When the doctor told him that he had cancer, he accepted the news with an air of fatalism （ 医 生 说 他 患 了 癌 症 ， 他 听 后 ， 露 出 听 天 由 命 的 神 气 ） 。

然 则 「 缘 分 」 怎 样 翻 译 ？ 窃 以 为 宜 按 文 意 用 字 。 宋 朝 吕 南 公 有 《 奉 答 顾 言 见 寄 新 句 》 说 ： 「 更 使 襟 灵 憎 市 井 ， 足 知 缘 分 在 云 山 。 」 俗 语 说 ： 「 有 缘 千 里 来 相 会 。 」 谨 把 这 两 句 翻 译 于 后 ， 以 供 参 考 ： （ 1 ） With a strong dislike for worldly society, I understand that I was born to live in the cloudy mountains 。 （ 2 ） People fate wants to bring together will meet even though they are thousands of miles apart 。 Born to do something 即 「 生 来 注 定 做 某 事 」 ， 那 是 一 种 缘 分 ； fate that brings people together 即 「 使 人 相 会 的 命 运 之 神 」 ， 那 相 会 又 是 另 一 种 缘 分 。
