What is the one word that will make you rich?

Many people say that replying to emails with "done" or saying "thanks" will make you more successful if used habitually. What is one word I should use more often if I want to be successful?

"Because."

People who get rich are persuasive and credible.

One of the best ways to get other people to do what you want them to? And to sound credible? Use the word because.

Harvard psychologist Ellen Langer tested the power of because by asking people to cut in line to use the copy machine. This was in 1989, when there actually were lines to use the Xerox.

Langer tested 3 different ways of asking people to let her cut ahead. Here's what she found:

Way 1: Excuse me, I have 5 pages. May I use the Xerox machine?

Result: 60% said YES.

Way 2: Excuse me, I have 5 pages. May I use the Xerox machine because I'm in a rush?

Result: 94% said YES.

Adding the magic word because, immediately boosted the effectiveness of her request by a remarkable amount.

Way 3: Excuse me, I have 5 pages. May I use the Xerox machine because I have to make some copies?

Result: 93% said YES.

The word because is so powerful that it didn't even matter if the reasons provided were compelling.

So, if you want to be rich: be specific in your assertions - many people will let you get ahead if you just ask. Then say that magic word because -- a larger majority are likely to say yes.

Because people want reasons for doing what they are doing. Almost any reason will do.

Rich means wealth, which means Capitalism, which means one word...

Ownership.

cd24b331ebd1eb1ddc751eab9236d937.jpg

Analyze any wealthy life and there is just one commonality. They own or control something, then exercise their right to leverage and collect from it.

Bill owns MSFT shares.Donald owns half of Manhattan.Rowling owns copyrights.Dalio owns a hedge fund. The Bush family controls corporate board positions.

They may have borrowed, inherited, lied, cheated, stolen, rode someone else's coat tails, or built it from scratch, but they somehow acquired, then retained ownership and control of some valuable cash flow cash flow positive asset(s).

What you do may make you rich for a while - job, modeling, singing, etc.

It is what you do with the stuff that you acquire that will make you wealthy (or poorer). If luck did not give you something to leverage directly for money - pretty face, attractive body, etc; then go get something to own, control, and farm.

I cannot bear to see one more article or blog about how Millennials need to build their networking and communication skills and climb a ladder to get rich. Instructing an entire generation to work in service of a hierarchy that someone else controls and not emphasize personal ownership of assets is misleading and irresponsible.Propaganda, gross misunderstanding of economics and history, misdirection, or whatever it may be - it is straight up inconsistent with the basic recipe that every other wealthy human throughout history has followed.

No.

不。

4c805431bae49958f9e0ae11d25c9a2d.jpg

Say no to anyone or anything that will waste your time. Say no to anyone who is negative. Say no to all the vampires who want to suck you dry. Say no to anyone who wants you to work for free. Say no to excess leisure time and instant gratification. Say no to fear.

Eric Lauritzen)

If you think and act like the 99%, you will never become the 1%.

You live in a box.

You drive in a box.

One day you will be buried in a box.

Don't live your life in box.

#CrushTheBox

That requires you to say NO a lot.

CamMi Pham)

Yes.

是。

4efe102d5cd55c93388205213448f417.jpg

That's the word.

However, the art of saying a yes must be accompanied by the intellect and decision making skills of when to say a No.

Say yes to new opportunities.

Say yes to travelling.

Say yes to volunteering.

Say yes to something that pushes you out of your comfort zone.

Say yes to some time alone to retrospect.

It can't guarantee that you'll turn richer in terms of your finances, but it'll surely make you richer in terms of experiences.

Pallavi Ghosh)

Most rich people I know personally, share one characteristic I don't find in others. They focus and do one thing very well and stick with it, almost to a fault.I know very wealthy mechanics, without a college education, who fix cars better than anyone else and always have.

Courage.

Courage, especially in the form of patience and self control will work wonders in making you rich, both personally and professionally. It's importance can be deciphered by the following words by Maya Angelou:

Courage is the most important of all the virtues, because without courage you can't practice any other virtue consistently. You can practice any virtue erratically, but nothing consistently.

Saima Siddiqui)

Focus.

专注。

Something I personally find hard. F.O.C.U.S. = Follow One Course Until Successful. Even when it gets boring!

Martin Capodici)
