The Badminton World Federation has charged eight female Olympic doubles players with "not using one's best efforts to win a match". Four pairs of players - two from South Korea, one from China and one from Indonesia - could be disciplined.

国际羽联已指控八名奥运会女子选手，认为他们"没有尽全力赢得比赛"，其中包括两对韩国运动员，一对中国运动员和一对印度尼西亚运动员，他们都可能受到处罚。

Not using one’s best efforts to win a match（没有尽全力赢得比赛）其实就是“消极怠战”，国际羽联认为这是conducting oneself in a manner that is clearly abusive or detrimental to the sport（明显有悖体育精神的行为），已正式宣布disqualify these players（取消这些选手的比赛资格）。

据报道，在这几组选手都已进入knockout stages/quarter-finals（淘汰赛阶段）。比赛过程中，她们均出现serve into the net（发球下网）和hit the shuttlecock out of the court（回球出界）等失误，以至于场上裁判都发出警告，甚至曾一度表示要出示black card（黑牌）取消这些选手的比赛资格。
