我今天学习时有个问题,不算很懂,想请教高手.

lesson38 everything except the weather

里面有两个重点句:

he had no sooner returned than he bought a house and went to live there.

he had hardly had time to settle down when he sold the house and left the country.



这两句学的是两组词: no sooner ... than / hardly...when

教程里面说no sooner ... than 与 hardly...when都是固定词组,than与when不能混用.



但是我查字典时看到字典里面这样写:

no sooner/hardly had ... than

1:No sooner had I got into the house than the phone rang.

2:Hardly had they reached Edinburgh than theywere ordered to return to London.

注:偶查的朗文字典



请问than 与when能不能互换呀?

我刚才请教了下别人,他也找了个例句,回答如下:

Hardly had I fallen asleep when a crash woke me is Standard;

Hardly had I fallen asleep than a crash woke me is usually considered Nonstandard, not acceptable in Edited English, and at best limited to the Conversational levels.

这个解释不知道能不能令人信服,有朋友知道谢谢跟贴.

学过，记得是不能互换。。
