[原创] More working pressure nowadays

Some people think we suffer from heavier work pressure than before while enjoying less leisure time. What is your opinion?
In the past two decades, along with the rapid progress of the society, there is no doubt that people’s standard of living has been improved remarkably. Normally most people should be happier with more income and better house, however, some people, even men of admirable status and means, complain about their life, claiming that they have encountered more working stress than ever. Tasting the dramatic change of the elapsed years, I cannot agree with them any more.

First of all, social competition is rocketing. Blessed by high technology, an increasing number of machines appeared at our workplaces, which has given a rise detrimentally to the high unemployment rate. Moreover, new inventions and breakthroughs are continuously depreciating our experience, in particular in professions information technology concerned. In addition, millions of graduates surge into labor market every year. They are educated with new technology and are meanwhile more energetic. In order to ensure their positions in being, old employees have to be in competition with new comers, to acquire new knowledge continually at an age of elder than 40 which is considered no longer to be quick to learn new tricks. Without guaranteed job, people would not have the sense of security.

Besides, it is always the case that people tend to be in pursuit of higher income and positions. With reforming and opening-up, the gap between the rich and the poor has been hard to bridge. As a result, discontent occurs from inside world while comparing with others, which, wittingly or unwittingly, leads to overwork and further study.

Another point in favor of more stress nowadays, more frequently advanced and widely accepted, is that communication between people becomes less and less. To share worry with friends and family means to relieve the stress and minimize it. Unfortunately, telephone reduced face to face conversation while computer occupied most spare time of people. Consequently people keep their pressure in mind and in turn more mental diseases turn up.

To sum up, it is true to say that people in today’s society have less leisure time to enjoy life, analysis showing people get more pressure from both outer world and inner heart. Meanwhile, less communication accumulates more stress in the bottom of heart.
