By 2007, she skyrocketed to fame playing "Tian SuiSui" in the hit drama Bloody Xiangxi, becoming the most dazzling new star in the industry at just 24. With her career on a steep upward trajectory, a steady path in acting should have guaranteed a brilliant future. But Bai Jing's mind had already drifted toward the world of fame and fortune.

In 2009, through a mutual friend, she met Zhou Chenghai, a billionaire 18 years her senior with a fortune worth billions. Zhou fell head over heels for the young, beautiful Bai Jing and launched an all-out courtship. Faced with luxury cars, mansions, and pocket money running into hundreds of thousands, Bai Jing could not resist the temptation. Smooth-talking and deceitful, Qiao Yu instantly captivated Bai Jing's heart. Driven by vanity and insatiable greed, the 28-year-old Bai Jing completely lost herself. Not only did she carry on an affair with Qiao Yu behind Zhou's back, but the two also conspired in a vicious scam. Qiao first arranged for someone to splash red paint on Zhou's car pretending to be gangsters, then stepped in to "resolve" the situation, thereby earning Zhou's trust. Next, Qiao fabricated a demolition project for an old building in Wangfujing, tricking Zhou into investing heavily. With Bai Jing's tacit approval and cooperation, Zhou was defrauded of millions of yuan in assets. At that time, Bai Jing was enjoying the lavish lifestyle her husband provided while madly amassing wealth through her lover's sweet words—greedily reaching for more and more that did not belong to her.

In January 2012, tipped off by a friend, Zhou Chenghai grew suspicious and called the police—only to run into Bai Jing and Qiao Yu walking intimately together right outside the station. After the deception was exposed, Bai Jing turned the tables. On February 13, 2012, she filed for divorce, accusing Zhou of infidelity, domestic violence, and transmitting HPV, while demanding he leave with nothing—handing over the Lidu Shuian mansion and massive stock holdings to her. To pressure Zhou into submission, on the ninth day of the Lunar New Year, Bai Jing barged into the hospital room of Zhou's critically ill mother and caused a scene. The elderly woman's body could not withstand such a shock; she suffered a fatal heart attack on the spot and died. Within days, Zhou had lost his mother, been betrayed by the woman he loved most, and been drained of his fortune—his once-vibrant spirit reduced to ashen despair.

On the morning of February 28, 2012, having received the divorce summons, Zhou Chenghai arranged to meet Bai Jing at their villa. Suppressed rage and utter desperation erupted in a violent confrontation. Having lost all reason, Zhou drew a knife he had been carrying and stabbed Bai Jing fatally. As for Qiao Yu, languishing in prison, he was ultimately sentenced to 11 years for fraud by the court.
