adoptive"收养的；有收养关系的“，是站在被收养者角度说的（representing the perspective of the adoptee），是被收养的小孩用来描述他的养父母的。因此，含主动语气。
       He is my adoptive father.他是我的养父。
以上是严格的区分。但现今这一界线已被打破，adopted parents"养父养母"，adoptive children"收养的小孩" 都在实用。
