The trial of Bo Xilai ended on Monday with prosecutors demanding “severe punishment” of the fallen Chinese politician who is accused of corruption, embezzlement and abuse of power.对薄熙来案的庭审于本周一结束。公诉人要求“严惩”这位已经落马的中国政治家。薄熙来面临受贿、贪污和滥用职权三项指控。

The court said it would issue a verdict, in what has become the most significant trial in China in decades, at a later date. 这是中国数十年来最重大的一次审判。济南中院方面表示将择期宣判。

Prosecutors on Monday said Mr Bo’s defiance in court had disqualified him from leniency, in an indication that a light sentence of under 20 years in prison, earlier expected by some legal observers, is very unlikely. 公诉人周一表示，薄熙来拒不认罪，不具有法定从轻处罚情节，表明法院不太可能像之前一些法律界观察人士预计的那样，对薄熙来从轻发落、判处他20年以下有期徒刑。

In its final address to the court, the prosecution said there was “ample evidence beyond reasonable doubt” that Mr Bo, 64, was guilty as charged of corruption, embezzlement and abuse of power, and argued that he had acted intentionally and the circumstances were particularly serious in all three charges. 在向法院做的最后陈述中，公诉人表示，有“确实充分并且排除合理怀疑的证据体系”证明，现年64岁的薄熙来犯受贿罪、贪污罪、滥用职权罪的事实清楚。公诉人认为，薄熙来有主观故意，并且所犯三项罪名的罪行极其严重。

“In court, the defendant raised unreasonable excuses and tried to shirk responsibility through obfuscation tactics,” the prosecutor said according to delayed, censored transcripts published by the Jinan Intermediate People’s Court. 济南市中级人民法院延迟发布并经过审查的庭审记录显示，公诉人表示：“被告人薄熙来当庭罔顾事实，提出无理辩解，企图混淆视听，以达到推卸责任之目的。”

The prosecution said that Mr Bo had earlier confessed to some of the charges during his detention and indicated that he would accept the prosecution’s conclusions, but had turned round to repudiate the prosecution’s evidence in court and even negated his own earlier confessions. 公诉人表示，被告人薄熙来在检察机关侦查和审查起诉期间，都曾对某些犯罪事实做过供述，并表示愿意认可检察机关经过分析确认后的调查结论。但是，在这几天的庭审中，被告人薄熙来不仅对有大量确凿证据证明的犯罪事实予以矢口否认，而且连自己庭前亲自书写的材料和亲笔供词也予以推翻。

“We must remind the defendant Bo Xilai: The facts of your crime objectively exist and don’t change according to your subjective will. The assessment of the crime is done on the basis of the entire evidence of the case and not just based on your testimony in court,” the prosecutors said. “The defendant’s crimes are extremely severe and he refuses to confess, so there is no basis for leniency, and he must be punished severely.” 公诉人表示：“我们要提醒被告人薄熙来：犯罪事实是客观的，并不随你的主观意志而转移，不因你认为有就有，你认为没有就没有；认定犯罪事实，是以全案证据为依据，而不是以你的当庭的口供为依据。”“被告人罪行极其严重，又拒不认罪，不具有法定从轻处罚情节，必须依法从严惩处。”

By moving to the closing statements on Monday morning, the court indicated that the trial was likely to wrap up on Monday after five days. The hearing began last Thursday and have already taken much longer than expected. 庭审在周一上午进入最后陈述阶段，中午法院方面宣布法庭审理结束。此案于上周四开庭，截至目前庭审已进行了五天，庭审时间已大大超出人们的预期。
