L 41 Do you call that a hat?

"Do you call that a hat?"I said to my wife. "You needn't be so rude about it "my wife answered and she looked at herself in the mirror.I sat down on one of those modern chairs whit holes in it and waited.We have been inthe hat shop for half an hour and my wife still in front of the mirror."we mustn't buy things we don't need."i remarked suddenly.I regretted saying it almost at once."You needn't have say that."my wife answered.I needn't remind you of that terrible tie you bought yesterday."I find it beautiful."i said "A man can never have toomany ties ." " And a woman cann't never have too many hats."she answered.Ten minutes later we walked out of the hat shop together .mY wife was wearing a hat that looked like a lighthouse.!

我以前加入过好多群，但发现好多刚加入群的背友，刚开始信心满满，后来一般都是无的而终，没有多少能坚持下来，但我相信坚持下来的是最棒的，哪怕一百个人中有个2个坚持下来，那我建群的目的就达到了！

L42Not very musical

As we had had a long walk through one of the markets of old Delhi,We stopped at a squire to have a rest.After a time,we noticed a snake charmer with two large baskets at the other side of squire,so we went to have alook at him.As soon as he saw us, he picked up a long pipe which was covered with coins and opened one of the baskets.When he begain to paly a tune,we had our glimpse of the snake.It rose out of the basket andbegan to follow the movements ofthe pipe.We were very much surprised when the snake charmmer began to play Jazz and morden pop songs.The snake,however ,continued to "dance" slowly.It obviously could not tell the difference between Indian musical and jazz.

In 1929,three years after hisflightover the North Pole.the American explorer R.E.Byrd successfully flew over the South pole for the first time.Though,at first,Byrd and his man were able to take a great many of photographs of the mountains that lay below.They soon ran into serious trouble.At one point ,it seemed certain that the plane would crash.It could only get over the mountains if it rose to 10,000 feet.Byrd at once ordered his man throw out of two heavy food sacks.The plane was than able to rise and it cleared over the mountains by 400 feet.Byrd now know that he would be able to reach the South Pole which was 300 miles away.For there were no more mountains in sight.The aircraft was able to fly over the endless plains without difficulty.

L 44 Through the forest

Mrs janne sterling did think of risk she was taking when she ran through a forest after two man.They had rushed up to her while she was having a picnic at the edge of a forest with her children and tried to steal her handbag.In the struggle,the strap broke and,with handbag in their possesion,both man started running through the trees.Mrs sterling got so angry that she ran after them.she was soon out of breath,and she continued to run.When she caught up with them,she saw that they had sat down and were going through the contents of the bag.So she ran straight at them.The man got such a fright that they dropped the bag and ran away."The strap needs mending"said Mrs sterlinglater."but they did not steal anything."

L Did you want to tell me something?

Dentists always ask questions when It is impossible for you to answer.My dentist just pulled out of one of my teeth,he had told me to rest for a while.I tried to say something,but my mouth was full of cotton wool.He knew i collected match boxes and asked me whether my collection was growing.He then asked me how my brother was and whether I liked my new job in London.In answer to these questions ,I either nodded or made strang noises.Meanwhile,my tongue was busy searching out thehole where my tooth had been.I suddenly felt very worried,but i could not say anything.When dentist at last removed the cotton wool from my mouth.I was abe to tell him that he had pulled out the wrong tooth.

48篇总算背完了，这礼拜开始准备复习一个礼拜，一天复习8篇，并准备开始看一本英文书《the littleprince》增加点词汇量。[/color]

这2天那书看了3章，共记下了66个生词，平均一章22个单词，也可能是我阅读能力下降，感觉还是有点累的，但我会坚持下去。

也可能不是太习惯，感觉背单词比背新概念的文章还难。我会努力，继续读完这本书的，特定下下阶段学习目标：

1，下星期一到周六继续复习1-48课，每天复习8课左右（都是背诵过的复习起来还是蛮轻松的），每天看2章《the little prince》并背看过的生词（有点难，看到那么多生词真想吐 ）。
