A Chinese stand-up comedian has sparked backlash after joking about former Formula One driver Romain Grosjean's near-fatal crash at the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix during a comedy show segment that also featured sponsored advertising.
According to Beijing Daily, comedian Zhou Qimo referenced the accident in an online comedy program, joking about the 28 seconds Grosjean spent trapped in flames after his car slammed into a barrier at 221 km/h.
During the routine, Zhou joked that the driver might have made a phone call before pulling out a bottle of blueberry yogurt — a brand reportedly associated with an F1 team sponsor.
截至目前,周奇墨及节目组尚未公开回应,这场表演留下的讨论仍在继续。
Neither Zhou nor the show's production team has publicly responded, while criticism online continues to grow, with many accusing the program of trivializing a near-fatal tragedy for entertainment and commercial gain.
