A: Are the ceremony and reception held in the same place?

A:婚礼和婚宴在同一地点举行吗？

B: No,not usually. Most people are married in a church, and then the wedding party and guests go to another place for the reception. Sometimes, however, they  hold the reception in a big room in the church.

B:不一定，通常不在同一个地方。大多数人都在教堂举行仪式，然后再到别处举办婚宴，但有时也在教堂的大房问里举办婚宴。

A: Where do they go?

A:他们都去哪儿呢？

B: Either they go to a public place such as a hotel, a restaurant, or a club, or to the home of the bride.

B:他们选一个公共场所，像饭店、餐厅或俱乐部，要么就去新娘家。

A: They go to the home of the bride?

A:他们去新娘家？

B: Why do you ask?

B:为什么这样问呢？

A: The Chinese custom is to go to the groom's home-just the opposite.

A:中国人的习惯刚好相反，是在新郎家宴客。

B: Oh! In our country the bride's family is responsible for the entire wedding-arrangement, costs, etc. So the reception  is held at her home.

B:哦！在美国婚礼的安排、费用等全部由新娘的家负责。所以，请客也在新娘家。

A: That's very expensive for the family of the bride.

A:这对女方家是一项很大的负担嘛。

B: Many American fcrthers joke that they would rather hold the ladder for their daughter to climb down and elope than pay for a wedding.

B:在美国，许多做父亲的常开玩笑说，他们宁愿替女儿扶住梯子，让她从楼上爬下来和情郎私奔，以免为她举办婚礼。

A: Tell me something about the bridal bouquet. Isn't it the custom to throw it?

A:听说有个风俗——新娘要把花束抛给别人。是不是这样？

B: Yes. When the bride and groom are ready to leave on their honeymoon all the single girls gather in one place. The bride stands with her back to them and throws her bouquet over her shoulder and they each try to catch it. The one who does will be the next one married.

B:是的。当新婚夫妇准备出去度蜜月时，所有的单身女孩子站在一起，新娘背对着她们，从肩上向后面抛花束。每个女孩子都想得到花束，因为得到花束的人将下一个结婚。

A: Maybe I'll be the one.

A:也许我是那一个呢。
