今天是“小寒”,对于我国大部分地区应是最冷的一段时间。

“小寒”一过,就到了“出门冰上走”的三九天了。

今天我们就来聊一聊“小寒”:
小寒



Minor Cold, the 23rd solar term, begins this year on Jan 5 and ends on Jan 20.

小寒是一年的第23个节气,今年1月5日开始,在1月20日结束。

During Minor Cold, most areas in China have entered the bittercold stage of winter. The ground and rivers are frozen. The cold air from the north moves southward continuously.

小寒期间,我国大部分地区进入了严寒。地面和河流都结冰了。来自北方的冷空气不断南移。

Sanjiu

Although "Minor Cold" means less cold than the following solar term, "Major Cold", there is an old saying in China that goes, "The days of the Sanjiu period are the coldest days." "Sanjiu period" refers to the third nine-day period (the 19th-27th days) after the day of the Winter Solstice, which is in Minor Cold. Actually Minor Cold is normally the coldest period of winter. It is important to keep warm during this period.

虽然“小寒”的意思是不像“大寒”那么冷,但是中国有句老话说:“三九是最冷的日子。”“三九期”是指冬至后的第三个九天(19 -27天),这几天在小寒这一段时间。小寒通常是冬天最冷的时候。在这段时间保暖很重要。

Cuisines fit for Minor Cold



From the perspective of dietary health care, during Minor Cold people should eat some hot food to benefit the body and defend against the invasion of cold weather — hot foods like pepper, cinnamon, leeks, and parsley. Now is the best time to have hot pot and braised mutton with soy sauce. But it is sensible to notice that too much spicy food may cause stomachache.

从饮食保健的角度来看,在小寒期间,人们应该吃一些对身体有益的热食物,抵御寒冷天气的侵袭,热食物如胡椒、肉桂、葱和欧芹。现在是吃火锅和炖羊肉的最佳时间。但是要注意,吃太多辛辣食物可能会引起胃痛。

Winter exercise



There is an old Chinese saying that goes, "Get exercise in the coldest days of winter." Generally, Minor Cold is the coldest period in China, which is the best time for exercising and improving one's physique. To keep warm, the children of China have special games to play, such as hoop rolling and the cockfighting game.

中国有句老话,“冬练三九。”一般来说,小寒是最冷的时一段时间,也是锻炼和改善体质的最佳时期。为了保暖,孩子们有特别的游戏,如滚铁环和斗鸡。

Eating huangyacai



In Tianjin, there is a custom to have huangyacai, a kind of Chinese cabbage, during Minor Cold. There are large amounts of Vitamins A and B in huangyacai. As huangyacai is fresh and tender, it is fit for frying, roasting and braising.

在天津,小寒期间有吃黄芽菜的习俗。黄芽菜中含有大量的维生素A和B。黄雅菜口感鲜嫩,适合煎、烤、炖。
