Van Exel 在比赛剩下 1 分 13 秒出手时限结束前投进一记三分球使比数以 101比 99 领先，但是 Mason 在禁区内在身躯不稳的情形下也投进一球。
beat the shot clock：在出手时限结束之前（完成出手投篮的动作）.NBA 规定进攻一方必须在内 24 秒出手投篮，但在球过中线以后在前场的发球后，必须在14 内秒出手投篮，否则违例。shotclock 即是这种限时的定时器。在工作时限（deadline，例如：交报告、交学费、申请入学、报名考试等的截止日期）前完成工作，可以说beat the deadline.

rehabilitating：养伤，原形是rehabilitate，名词形为rehabilitation.其它的用字还有recuperate.「护士」一字nurse 当做动词用也是「养伤」的意思。
close to：接近于…。此处的「接近」是指接近某种程度或状况。由于此处的to 是介系词，因此后面接着用动词时，应用动名词「动词+ing」；千万不要把这个to 当做不定词的to 而接动词原形。
4. The Cavaliers managed to get within eight points early in the fourth quarter，
butitdidn'ttakelongfortheKingstofinishthemoff. …SeattleforwardRashard Lewis managed only 11 points.
第四节才开始不久，骑士队勉强将比数拉近到只落后8分，但好景不常，国王队后来仍终结了骑士队…西雅图（超音队）的前锋Rashard Lewis 拼拼凑凑只得到 11 分。
managed：设法…；勉强达到…的目标。做此意思解释时，后面接动词时必须使用不定词的型式。
take long：花很长的一段时间。此词组通常只用于否定句。

…Jackson 连续投进三分球，国王队在第二节中投 11 中8 而取得 21 分的领先。
consecutive：连续：指一连串；此处不用continuous，因为continuous 表示
不中断。

今天教练对我说，我应该如何控球完成进攻计划；不要只做个「关键时刻」射手，而是要帮助队友进入状况。
'go-to' man：在关键时刻可以托付重任的人，另一个说法是clutch player.

Jones 在延长赛中得到 5 分，使（迈阿密）热浪队终止两场连败。
help the Heat snap：snap 本意为「（突然）折断、（突然）断掉」，引申为「终
止」之意。help 接受词再接第二个动词时，用不定词「to+动词」，但一般常省略
to.
losing streak：连败。此处 streak 是指（比赛胜、负场数的）连续。连胜当然
就是 winning streak 了。

同时，Gill 左手小指骨折…
fractured：「动词」骨折；「名词」：fracture.脱臼是dislocate，筋骨、肌肉、
韧带、关节的扭伤是sprain.

take（somebody）a while：花（某人） 一段时间。
in a groove：得心应手，顺手，上手。
