face the music 面对惩罚
Face the music doesn’t mean reading the music. Instead, it is an idiom that means to accept punishment when someone has done something wrong. Face the music，面对音乐？错了！事实上face the music表示某人做错了某件事，等着“受罚”(一般可是大麻烦！)。据说，此表达来源于演员上台时候，只要音乐一响，就要去面对舞台上发生的如怯场、忘词等各种局面。所以，对演员来说，face the music意味着不得不去面对。
Examples:
A boy was caught by his teacher when fighting with his classmate. So he had to face the music. 一个男孩子和他同学打架时候，被老师抓个正着。他要等着挨训了。
Everybody has to face the music for what he has done. 每个人都必须对自己所做的事情承担责任。
He knew he would never get away with it so he decided to face the music and give himself up to the police. 他知道自己已经无法逃脱，所以他决定承担后果并向警方自首。 |
