A man in Chongqing's Liangjiang New Area has been placed under administrative detention after being exposed for allegedly obtaining cats and dogs through fraudulent adoptions and subjecting them to abuse, authorities said on Wednesday.

近日，网传重庆一名被称为“山姆打包哥”的男子，与其妻子涉嫌长期以“领养”为名骗取猫狗后残忍虐待，引发了广泛关注。

The suspect, surnamed Li, drew widespread public outrage after online reports alleged that he and his wife had long posed as adopters to acquire pets for mistreatment.

该李姓男子于2024年11月在重庆山姆会员店反复排队领取试吃品，并用自带容器打包带走，被网友戏称为“打包哥”。

Li first gained online notoriety in November 2024 as the "Sam's Packer", after repeatedly queuing for free samples at a Chongqing Sam's Club and taking them away in his own containers.

6月9日，重庆市两江新区人民政府大石坝街道办事处发布情况通报称，在李某家的三条小狗已安全送至爱心宠物医院和动物收容所救治及寄养。
