A handwritten message found on a cleaning bag aboard China's high-speed train G355 on Oct 29 has attracted public attention, sparking nationwide reflection on parenting, teenage phone use, and the power of leading by example.

The note, signed by a passenger from Ningbo, Zhejiang province, expressed frustration over her 14-year-old child's apparent obsession with phones and games.



10月31日，一位大学生网友在列车上意外发现了这个清洁袋，作为“过来人”，她坦诚分享了自己的青春期经历。

“初高中时，我也曾熬夜追剧看小说、打游戏。”她在回应里写道，父母的严厉管教甚至让她失去了独自睡觉的权利，但她仍会偷偷看到凌晨。

转机发生在一次“被抓包”后，她偷偷带手机去学校被父亲发现，本以为会迎来一场风暴，但父母却选择了沉默。这份出于尊重的冷静，让她自此再也没有带手机去学校。

Two days later, a college student who discovered the note shared it online, recalling her own teenage years when she often stayed up late watching dramas and playing games despite strict parental rules.

She said the turning point came when her father caught her secretly bringing a phone to school. Expecting punishment, she was instead met with silence. "Their calmness and respect stopped me from sneaking my phone to school again," she wrote.

在回应这位乘客的同时，这位大学生还分享了列车上的见闻。邻座一个五六岁的小男孩几次向他旁边的父亲透露出了对电子产品的渴望，而他父亲一边刷着手机一边说“买一台要好几千”，期间也没有抬头看孩子一眼。

这一幕让她想到了自己的父母，在她沉迷电子产品期间，父母坚持每晚放下手机阅读，“爸爸的书签是一张崭新的五块钱人民币，妈妈的书签是她自己做的，镶着蝴蝶。”

基于自身经历，她真诚地建议，“言传身教对我来说是一个很好的办法，不知是否适用于您的孩子。”

In the same post, the student described a scene she witnessed on the train: a young boy repeatedly asked his father for an electronic device, while the father, absorbed in his phone, replied without looking up.

The moment reminded her of her own parents, who set aside their devices each night to read, using thoughtful bookmarks. She advised the mother, "Leading by example worked well for me — it might help your child too."
