考文垂1983年出生于津巴布韦，是非洲最成功的奥运选手之一。她参加了5届奥运会，共获得7枚奥运奖牌（2金4银1铜）。2008年北京奥运会是她运动生涯的高光时刻，她在国家游泳中心“水立方”进行的游泳比赛中收获1金3银。

退役后，考文垂致力于推动全球体育发展。她在2013年成为国际奥委会委员，之后曾担任国际奥委会运动员委员会主席，成为全球运动员权益的代表。在她的推动下，国际奥委会加强了运动员的决策权，提升了赛后职业发展和心理健康支持等措施。此外，她还担任2026年达喀尔青奥会和2032年布里斯班奥运会协调委员会主席，深度参与赛事相关筹备工作。

A former Olympic swimming champion, Coventry is one of Africa's most decorated athletes, having won seven Olympic medals, including two golds. She has been an IOC member since 2013 and also served as chair of the IOC Athletes' Commission, where she played a crucial role in advocating for athletes' rights and welfare.

除了国际奥委会事务，考文垂还投身于本国体育管理。2018年，她被任命为津巴布韦体育部长。她致力于推进青少年体育、性别平等和基层体育设施建设，并希望通过体育赋能年轻一代。

Coventry has served as Zimbabwe's Minister of Youth, Sport, Arts, and Recreation since 2018, where she has focused on developing grassroots sports initiatives and enhancing opportunities for young people across the country to engage in sports.

作为新任IOC主席，考文垂将在2025年6月24日正式就职，接替执掌国际奥委会12年的托马斯·巴赫。

Coventry will officially take up the role on June 24, after incumbent Thomas Bach steps down following a 12-year spell in charge.

对于未来，考文垂表示，体育应成为全球团结的桥梁，她将致力于维护奥运会的政治中立性，确保奥运会不受国际政治影响。同时，她也希望在任期内进一步推动奥运改革，拓展奥运会的全球影响力，特别是在非洲及其他发展中国家，让更多国家能够从奥林匹克运动中受益。
