burning question 字面上的意思是燃烧起来的问题，

引伸下来其实是“十万火急的问题、特别需要解决”，

同样这个习惯用语也常指人们“热烈讨论的问题、热点问题”。

be burned out的本意指的是“燃烧殆尽”，

不过当用这个短语形容某人burned out时，

意思是“过度劳累、精疲力竭”，

尤其指已经没办法、没精力再继续劳累下去了。

举个例子

She's probably burned out after studying all week.

在学习了一周后，她应该是筋疲力尽了。

● burn the candle at both ends

burn the candle at both ends的本意是“同时烧蜡烛的两头”，

这个习惯用语与burned out的意思相似，也是“劳累过度”的意思。

不过不同的是，burn the candle at both ends特别指那种因为做了太多的事情，

早晚都在忙碌而导致的筋疲力尽。

还有个短语是burn bridges in front of...

所谓的烧面前的桥也就是指“自断前路”，
