Near dusk,we went to the British Museum.In some Egyptian exhibition rooms there were mummies.Scary dead bodies!Though according to the film Adele’s adventure,the mummy of Pharaoh Ramses II was very kind,I was still not brave enough to look at it.The third day,our group visited the Windsor Castle.The story about it was also about its master,the Duke of Windsor and king Edward VIII.As we all know,he abdicated his throne for Mrs.Simpson.Now the castle is used by Queen Elizabeth II.She put all her crowns,scepters,swords and other royal jewelleries in the castle.The castle was being repaired when we visited,so we didn’t go inside.What a pity!But at least we watched the Changing of the Guard in front of the church.There were even a drum corp.The soldiers all had funny big black hats on their heads.

    At night,we went to a local restaurant for a British meal.Then I found that true western food was horrible.That’s why I said the best choice is to have Chinese food in Britain.

     We spent the next day in the city center.We visited the Big Ben, the Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace.And the Ferris wheel,which they called ‘the Eye of London’.After lunch we went shopping!

The fifth day,we went to Oxford,another world-famous university.There was a big library in Oxford,every book which published in Britain would be sent to this library.Now Oxford is not only a university,but also a big town.From 7th century people had been living there,till 912AD,it had become an important place in England. The word ‘ford’ means ferry crossing.River Thames and Cewill meet here,and in the past the water was very shallow,people drived ox carts to cross the river,hence Oxford got its name.And the most exciting thing was,we visited the college which the flim series Harry Potter framed in.

      Four hours later,we got off the coach and the guide told us, ‘Here we are,boys and girls,welcome to Manchester.’Manchester?Is there a football team called Manchester United?Eh,yes,and it also meant that I would spend a lot of money to buy souvenirs for my classmates.

The next day,we went to the Lake District.I should have brought a more advanced camera!The lake sight was wonderful.There were sailboats and swans near the band,and farther there were mountains.I took a lot of photos with my friends.Then we visited Edinburgh.Edinburgh was in Scotland,so I saw the special dresses for men.They were beautiful but I didn’t buy one—because I’m not a male and,the dress was really expensive.Luckily, we went inside the castle and saw some records of royalty. Unfortunately, it was not allowed to take photos inside.We arrived in Scarbough in the evening.In this seaside town we would stay for 7 days.My roomate and I would stay in a local family and our group would study in a local school.We spent the first day with our host family.There were Jenny,Kelly,Oscar and Sammy in my host family.Jenny is a kind lady,Kelly is an old dog and Sammy and Oscar are two lovely cats.Jenny was really good at cooking,the sandwiches she made for us were delicious,so were the suppers.

      The lessons in the school were fun but we preferred the outdoor activities after school.The next day,we went to the ghost town nearby—York.You must know New York but you can’t know York.Actually when English men got their colonies in America,they named a piece of land ‘New York’ from the name of this town,York.
