Sometimes, because of some troubles and unpleasant experiences in life, I lose faith in myself and in what I am doing and cherishing. Consequently, the faith in others and in the meaning of life has gone, which makes me feel the world is dark and disappointed. .

Yesterday, I watched the movie of “pay it forward”. It describes a boy whose parents are alcoholics, and what is worse, his father has never loved him and only come back home occasionally. His mother forgives his father again and again even under family violence.

One day, his social teacher assigned the students a task to seek a way to change the world even tiny. So he came up with an idea to help others achieve something that could never be done by one’s own. If he could help three persons, who help another three respectively, the number of people being helped would increase dramatically by passing the kindness. It is so called pay it forward.

He assisted a drug addict to escape from drug but failed firstly. Then he made chances for his mother and his social teacher to meet and fall in love with each other. The social teacher is the same victim as this little boy who was burned by his father into having scars all over his body including his face. So some misunderstanding existed between the two lovers.

During an interview with a reporter who was interested in the campaign of “pay it forward”, the little boy remarked that all his efforts and endeavors were in vain. But at the same time, the former drug addict saved the life of a desperate woman while determined to be away from drug, and his mother and his social teacher recovered their relationship. The last good thing the boy did was to help a timid classmate fight against violence of bully, during which he died under a knife cutting.

I felt sad about his death at the beginning for sighing that why well-hearted people die while some evil ones benefit. After some reflection, the idea struck me that it is the little boy’s wish to make better of the bad world even at the expense of life. He never wants to live like a coward or drifts away indifferently as most other people do. Even the world may care little about his behavior; he himself becomes different which matters to him.

So never be frustrated or lose faith in life, in yourself, in others, and in what you do and cherish, even you are facing confusions and mess-ups in life, for when you are scattering the seed of kindness, you could never foresee when and where it will blossom. And that really matters.
